Last Updated: July 31, 2026This Privacy Policy explains how Veil Technologies LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the Masterplan app. By using Masterplan, you agree to the practices described in this policy. We collect the following types of information when you use Masterplan:
Account Information — Your name, email address, username, and an optional profile photo. Masterplan is passwordless: we never collect or store a password. You sign in with a one-time email link, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google; if you use Apple or Google, we receive basic profile information from that provider, such as your name and email address. During onboarding, we may also ask how you heard about Masterplan.
Content Data — Recipes, collections, meal plans, grocery lists, and households you create or join within the app.
Import Data — Links you submit for recipe import, any text or captions shared along with them, and photos you upload for recipe scanning.
Service & Diagnostic Data — When you import a recipe, we keep a diagnostic log of the request (the submitted link, source platform, the post's public caption text, outcome, and processing time) so we can monitor reliability and cost. If you enable push notifications, we store a device notification token. The app does not track the screens you visit or how long you use it, and it contains no advertising or tracking software.
Website Analytics — Our website (joinmasterplan.com) uses PostHog to count page views and see which pages lead people to the App Store. This records the pages you visit, your browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address, and it stores a cookie in your browser to recognise repeat visits. We do not record your screen or session, and if your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal we collect nothing. This applies to the website only — as noted above, the app itself contains no such tracking.
Feedback — Messages and ratings you choose to send us through the in-app feedback form.
Payment Data — Your subscription status and transaction history from the App Store. Payment card details are handled entirely by Apple and are never seen or stored by us.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To provide and operate the app — Your account information and content data are used to create and manage your account, sync your recipes, meal plans, and grocery lists across your devices, and deliver the core features of Masterplan.
To process payments — Your subscription data is used to manage your subscription and provide access to Masterplan Edition features.
To enable recipe import — Links, captions, and photos you submit are processed — including by third-party AI services acting on our behalf — solely to extract and save the recipe for you. Our providers are not permitted to use your content for their own purposes, including training AI models.
To improve the app — Import diagnostic logs help us find and fix failures in the recipe-import pipeline and keep the service reliable.
To communicate with you — Your email address may be used to send sign-in links, important account-related notifications (such as a reminder before a free trial converts to a paid subscription), or support responses. We will not send marketing emails without your consent.
To send push notifications — With your permission, we may send push notifications about activity in your household and other relevant updates. You can opt out at any time through your device settings or in-app preferences.
To authenticate your identity — If you sign in with Apple or Google, we use the information provided by that service to verify your identity and create or access your account.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertising platforms. We share data only with the service providers below, solely to operate Masterplan, and with other users only as you direct:
Cloud Infrastructure — Your account and content data are stored and processed on Supabase, our database, authentication, and file-storage provider. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
AI Processing — Recipe links, captions, and photos you submit for import are processed by Anthropic's AI services to extract structured recipe content on your behalf.
Content Retrieval — When you import from Instagram or TikTok, we use content-retrieval services such as Apify to fetch the public post data for the link you submitted.
Diagnostics — Import diagnostic events are recorded in PostHog to help us monitor and improve the import pipeline. These events are pseudonymous (tied to an account ID, not your name or email). PostHog also provides the website analytics described in section 2.
Email Delivery — Sign-in links and account emails are sent through Brevo, our email delivery provider.
Payments — Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment card details.
Authentication Providers — If you sign in with Apple or Google, your basic profile information is shared with us by those providers in accordance with their own privacy policies. Push notifications are delivered through the Apple Push Notification service.
Other Masterplan users, at your direction — If you join a household, its members can see your name and profile photo and the grocery lists and meal plans shared within that household. If you share a recipe or collection using a share link, a copy of it becomes viewable by anyone who has that link.
Legal Obligations — We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or in response to valid legal requests such as a court order or government inquiry.
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the Masterplan service and fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy.
Account and Content Data — Retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information and content data are permanently deleted — typically immediately, and in all cases within 30 days.
Payment Data — Apple retains transaction records under its own policies. Our records of your subscription status may be retained for up to 7 years to comply with financial and tax regulations, even after account deletion.
Import Data — Photos you upload for recipe scanning are analyzed once and are not stored on our servers. The extracted recipe and its cover image are saved to your account as Content Data. Links you submit may appear in the diagnostic logs described below.
Service & Diagnostic Data — Import diagnostic logs are retained for up to 24 months and then deleted.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
Right to Access — You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to Correction — You can request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete information we hold about you.
Right to Deletion — You can delete your account and associated personal data at any time from within the app, or by contacting us.
Right to Opt Out of Communications — You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
Right to Data Portability — You can request your data in a machine-readable format.
Right to Lodge a Complaint — EU users may contact their local supervisory authority.

Encryption — Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Access Controls — Access to your data is restricted to authorized personnel.
Secure Infrastructure — Masterplan is built on secure, industry-standard cloud services.
However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you. Continued use of Masterplan constitutes acceptance of updates.
