What's shared, and what isn't
Joining a household shares two things with everyone in it: the grocery list and the meal plan. Both sync live — when someone ticks off the milk in the shop, it goes through on everyone's phone within a second or two.
Your cookbook stays yours. Recipes, collections and photos are personal and are not shared by joining a household. If you want someone to have one of your recipes, share it with a link.
Everything in the app has a Personal side and a Household side. The icon in the top-left of the Groceries and Plan tabs switches between them — so if a list looks empty, check which one you're viewing before assuming something has gone missing.
Setting one up
- Open the More tab and tap Household.
- Create one, and you'll get an invite code.
- Send the code to the people you cook with. They open the same screen, choose to join, and enter it. Tapping an invite link opens the app straight onto the join screen.
How many people can join
The free plan supports a household of two, which covers most couples and flatmate pairs. Masterplan Edition raises that, and the limit follows the person who created the household rather than each member — so one subscription covers everyone in it.
If the owner's Edition subscription lapses while more than two people are in the household, the shared list and plan become read-only rather than deleting anything. Nothing is lost, and it unlocks again the moment the subscription resumes or the household is back to two.
Leaving, and removing people
Leaving a household takes your personal list and plan back. It doesn't touch your cookbook, and it doesn't delete the household for everyone else. The owner can remove members and delete the household entirely.
Deleting a household removes the shared list and plan for everyone. Each person's own recipes are unaffected.
If changes aren't showing up
Live sync needs both phones online. If someone's changes haven't appeared, pull down to refresh the list — that fetches everything again and will catch anything missed while a phone was offline or the app was closed.
Still stuck?
Email [email protected] and a person will read it — or write from inside the app, under More then Help.
